Employment and Independent Contractor Agreements

Western Law Center counsels businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs on the decision between employing and contracting with individuals. Once a decision is made, an attorney drafts the employment agreement or independent contractor agreement (including any consulting and services agreements) in compliance with California state and federal laws and regulations. Since the passage of AB5, there has been monumental changes in this area of law exposing California businesses to potential penalties.

Employee Handbooks and HR Policies and Procedures

Further, an attorney assists the business with the adoption or updating of an existing employee handbook or other employment-related documents, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), hiring, separation, arbitration, and confidentiality agreements

The attorney also counsels the business on a wide range of daily labor and employment law issues including the creation of effective employment policies in compliance with federal and state laws. This ensures potential issues are mitigated (such as wage-and-hour violations, disability and family/medical leave law issues, workplace violence prevention, and constructive discharge or discipline).
